WHY DOES CWOW CHOOSE TO WORK WITH WOMEN?
“One of the things I love most about working at CWOW is the impact we have on women’s lives. A meaningful and measurable impact. Did you know that when you invest in a developing country, if you invest in its women and girls, 90% of your investment goes back to the community?! That, to me, is a really empowering statistic!” - Nicole Moore
HOW WE RAISE AWARENESS
Gender equality is a human right, but our world faces a persistent gap in access to opportunities. Globally, women have fewer opportunities for economic participation than men, less access to basic and higher education, greater health and safety risks, and less political representation. Guaranteeing the rights of women and giving them opportunities to reach their full potential is critical not only for attaining gender equality, but also for meeting a wide range of international development goals.
Empowered women and girls contribute to the health and productivity of their families, communities, and countries, creating a ripple effect that benefits everyone. The number of organizations who have made it their mission to empower women through education and business is extensive and growing rapidly. With the advent of the internet, global awareness can be merely a click away. Add into this information age a cadre of people dedicated to *the mission*, and you have a bloc with enormous *power*: Not only are there *boots* on the ground mentoring and assisting in the establishment of sustainable businesses and schools, but people at home raising awareness through social media, political interaction, ethically sourced businesses.

WHY FAIR TRADE OR "ETHICALLY SOURCED"?
Sourcing ethically means making sure that decent labor standards are met during the manufacturing of products, including sourcing materials. That means making sure that everyone involved at any stage of your products’ development is paid a fair wage, is working in safe and hygienic conditions, reasonable hours, is not subject to discrimination and is of decent working age – typically 16 or over. It doesn’t concern the environment. Providing workers at all stages of products’ developments with decent labor standards.
